Bara Imambara Built by Nawab of Awadh in 1784 it was a relief project for a major famine. This project had given jobs and hope to many workers and today it is one of the most important tourist attractions in Lucknow. During Muharrum, the Imambara is an important place for religious gathering. The Bhulbhulaiya is a maze and it is a popular attraction of Lucknow. The complex has a beautiful mosque built inside.
Chota Imambara Brainchild of Mohammad Ali Shah, the Chota Imambara was built in 1837. In the complex you can see many tombs. The Golden dome gets decorated with lights during the time of festivals. The other name of Chota Imambara is Husainabad Imambara.
The Residency The Residency served as the head quarters during British rule. During the revolt of 1857, the Indian Army took over The Residency. This group of British buildings is located in Hazratgunj area and is one of the most famous tourist centers in the area.
Rumi Darwaza Located in the northwest of Bara Imambara this important landmark was built in 1783. The gate is 60 feet tall and was constructed with immense care. This important landmark is visited by a lot of travelers.
Sikandar Bagh Nawab Saadat Ali Khan made this garden in 1800 and later it was used by the last Nawab of Oudh, Wajid Ali Shah. The name of the garden is taken from his beloved wife, Sikandara Mahal Begum. There is a small pavilion in the middle of the park where several cultural events are conducted. This was also a place where the mutineers took the refugees during the revolt of 1857.
Clock Tower The Clock Tower is located in between Bara Imambara and Chhota Imambara. Nawab Nasir-ud-Din Haider constructed this tower in 1880, which is 221ft huge in size. This is the tallest tower in Lucknow.
